Every badge type compared, and how to order custom badges that work.
A name badge is the cheapest piece of branding a business can put on a person, and the most-read: customers look at it every time they speak to your staff. The South African market splits into a few distinct products at very different prices, and choosing the wrong fastening or an illegible layout wastes the whole order. This guide covers the lot. We quote custom badge orders as part of our promotional range.
Printed badges carry a full-colour logo and a name on plastic or PVC, usually behind a protective layer. The default for retail, hospitality and events, and the most economical at volume.
Engraved badges cut the lettering into layered plastic or metal. Durable and formal; the usual choice for hotels, professional practices and anywhere a badge is worn for years.
Button badges are the round pinned tin of campaigns and promotions. Cheap, fast, and worn by choice rather than by uniform rule, which makes them closer to our wristbands than to a staff badge.
Reusable badges and holders take a printed paper insert or a clip-in card, usually worn on a lanyard. The right answer for conferences, visitors and high staff turnover, because a new name costs a sheet of paper, not a new badge.
Magnetic backs leave no holes in clothing and have become the standard for staff badges; the caution is that magnet manufacturers advise against them for people with pacemakers, so offer a pin alternative in any large order. Pins are cheap and secure but mark the garment. Clips need a pocket or lapel edge. Order one fastening per team rather than mixing.
A badge is read from a metre or two away, so the first name does the work: set it largest, dark on light, in a plain face. Two lines beat three; a name and a role is plenty. The logo belongs above or beside the name at a size that does not fight it. If the badge must carry a wellness or language flag, use a colour band, not more words.
We are a promotional products supplier, and badge orders are quoted the same way as our wristbands: send the quote form with your quantity, names or insert wording, and preferred fastening in the comments box, and a written quotation comes back within one working day. Artwork help, a digital proof before production, and delivery quoted by destination all apply exactly as they do for bands.

Simple ordering
Five steps from idea to delivery. We do the fiddly parts.
Choose your wristband style, colour, quantity and size — or just describe what you are trying to achieve and let us suggest the right combination.
Upload your logo, artwork or wording. Anything from a print-ready vector file to a rough sketch is a fine starting point.
We prepare a digital proof showing how your wristband will look. Nothing is produced until you have approved it.
We raise an invoice, and payment — or a deposit — is requested. Once that is received your wristbands go into production and we confirm your dispatch date.
Your finished wristbands are delivered to the address on your order, with tracking where the service provides it.
Questions
PDF, AI, EPS, SVG, PNG and JPG. Vector formats (PDF, AI, EPS, SVG) reproduce most cleanly, particularly for small text and fine detail.
That is completely normal. Send us whatever you have — a logo from your website, a photograph of a design, or just a description of what you want — and we will prepare artwork for your band and show it to you before anything is produced. If your logo needs to be redrawn as vector artwork there may be a small fee, depending on how much work it takes. We will always tell you the cost before we start, and never add it to your quotation without asking.

Yes — we can arrange express shipping. It carries an extra fee, which we confirm with you before anything is approved, so nothing unexpected appears on your invoice. Tell us your deadline on the quote request and we will tell you straight away whether it can be met.
Tell us what you need and we will send you a written quotation — no obligation, no pressure.
